All car rentals in Ilford are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement that you receive upon booking confirmation or when you collect the vehicle. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, applicable charges, and your obligations for the rental period. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.

Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Ilford, drivers must be at least 21 years old, though specific age restrictions may apply depending on the vehicle type, with potential extra fees for those under 25. A valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, along with valid identification and proof of current address. Payment information and a security deposit must also be provided. 3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be arranged via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Ilford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The full payment, along with a security deposit, is usually required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, ensuring secure transactions through trusted payment processors.
4. Picking Up and Returning Vehicles
- At the time of collection, it is important to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the vehicle and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and must be signed by both parties. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as it was collected, with allowances for regular wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged appropriately. Ensure that the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level it had at the start of your rental; refueling charges will be applied if it is returned with less fuel. If you expect to return the vehicle late, please inform us as soon as possible, as additional fees may be incurred. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic infractions, or other charges that occur during the rental period, along with a related administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. You will find full coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to lower your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless further coverage is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse is your responsibility, regardless of insurance status.
6. Changes and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ depending on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Late cancellations or failure to show may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities. This includes racing, off-roading, or other unsafe driving practices. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes and within the specified passenger and weight limits. Operating the vehicle outside of the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Ilford will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount paid for your rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Legal Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts in this region.
10. Modifications to Terms
We can update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect as soon as they are posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
